Chapter 2: Biomass Supply

- Identifying the availability of primary residues (mainly straw) for cereals, oil crops and sugar crops
from yield to production ratios statistics (see García‐Condado et al., 2019)
- Identifying the uses (flows) of primary (mainly lignocellulosic) residues between i.e. animal
bedding, bioenergy or insulation
o Questionnaire to the individual farmers via the Association of Private Farmers (‘’Asociace
soukromého zemědělství) and via the Smallholder Farmers (‘’Mladí zemědělci’’)
o Calls, discussion & meetings with the relevant experts and/or stakeholders in the field
(e.g. straw incineration plant in Kutná Hora)
o Web search
- Identifying the availability of secondary plant residues (e.g. bran or sugar beet pulp)
o Literature research on the proportion of processing residues in the food processing
industry
o Using CENIA statistics
o Validation of the numbers via calls and/or meetings
- What part of the biomass can be sustainably mobilized?
o Up to date literature search such as Mouratiadou et al., (2019); Stella et al., (2019);
Tripathi, et al., (2019) on the sustainable removal rates of biomass.
o Sending out and preparing questionnaires on the biomass mobilization (will be part of the
previous questionnaire)
- What are the main barriers for biomass mobilization from agriculture?
o There will be a seminar on biomass mobilization at the end of Janurary which will touch
upon these issues. The summary from it can be used for the report.
- Livestock Production
o Estimates on livestock production, their feed demands, waste generated and manure
production.
Chapter 3: Forestry Supply
- Current situation regarding the bark beetle calamity
o Barriers (method PESTLE: political, economic, social, technologic, legislative,
