Dear Mr Ezpeleta,
we are hereby writing you concerning the current situation, financing and organization of the Czech Grand
Prix MotoGP, held in Brno in 2019.
With regard to the fact that the intended grant that should have been received by Spolek pro GP ČR Brno
(hereafter “Spolek”) from the Ministry of Regional Development of the Czech Republic was substantially
lowered compared to original promise, intensive talks have been ongoing for several weeks regarding the
final amount. Additionally, both Statutory City of Brno and South Moravian Region are willing to raise their
respective contributions which were already higher than last year meaning that all parties involved are
doing their best to solve the situation.
Spolek is fully aware of its obligations and commitments regarding the organisation of the Grand Prix of
the Czech Republic, however since Spolek have not yet received any funds from the government side
(Ministry of Regional Development) we are not able to settle the invoice of first instalment of promoter’s
fee in time. At the same time, we would like to assure you that all preparations are continuing standardly
to secure smooth running of the event itself.
The next Government meeting which is supposed to be essentially decisive regarding the grant is to be
held on Monday, 10th June. Therefore, you can expect more information and more specific ones with
hopefully concrete timescale and solution regarding all payments and about overall situation during next
week.
With consideration to all mentioned above, we would like to refer to Article 29. letter (C) point (i) of the
Promotion Agreement of 11 January 2016 to apply for an extension of the first installment fee, preferably
until 15 July 2019, as we unfortunately do not currently have any other option to resolve this situation.
